Using the clank-lz, an open-source PCB milling machine, to mill microfluidic chips that can be used to test different genetic circuits while maintaining bacteria alive.
The system consists of three layers - an air control layer, a liquid culture layer, and a thin silicone membrane. The air and liquid layers are milled into 3mm polycarbonate sheets. The silicone membrane was cast using Ecoflex 00-30.
